SUSAN WICK
ABOUT
Picnic Projects was founded to bring more people closer to art, and ideally, closer to each other.
With that in mind, these are the principles that guide our work.
CONNECT, CONNECT
Looking, listening, and researching are at the heart of what we do. We surface, synthesize, and make connections to find artwork that really resonates.
Our work is tailored to you, your home, business, or brand — as well as your budget. Because we think that in art (as in life), you should find and follow what you love.
SUPPORT LIVING ARTISTS
Artists do vital work, often without the support they deserve. Supporting their practices is a meaningful part of living with art.
So we source thoughtfully from around the world, but with a focus on artists and galleries in the American West.
BUILD ON TRUST
Transparency and trust are essential to how we work, so we don’t work on commission and don’t maintain an inventory.
This means our interests are fully aligned with yours — we’re free to find the right artists and artworks for your project, whoever or whatever they may be.
SARA DISTIN | FOUNDER
Over 20+ years, Sara’s nurtured broad curiosity, deep research skills, and quiet observation to help clients find art that really resonates with them.
As an early hire at 20x200 | Jen Bekman Projects, she helped build an innovative gallery program that opened the art world to more people by embracing a nascent internet. There she worked with hundreds of high-profile and emerging artists and collaborated with revered institutions like the Brooklyn Museum and Magnum Foundation, as well as global retailers like West Elm.
She’s written about art, design, and photography for Time, AIGA, and Communication Arts and taught art education at BMoCA and the Aspen Art Museum. Sara studied studio art and has an MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
She also built a career in tech, working alongside founders, executives, and agencies to turn big ideas — about education, government, and neuroscience — into beloved brands and products.
Her desire to keep learning helps Sara bring the right art into the right space.
